On August 2nd, the Phoenix Young Adults with Young Adult leaders from all over the world facilitated the global young adults event at the Bonaventure Hotel Lawn. The theme we chose was, “Developing Magnetism”, which resonated with all of us.

We handed out beads of different colors to form 16 groups and kicked off the event by finding commonalities and unique characteristics within our groups. This was followed by a discussion on what spiritual magnetism was and what attributes we were attracting in our lives. We also shared what we would like to magnetize in the future. We chanted “Aum” three times to attract these intentions. We then formed the “Human Magnet” by creating bonds with young adults from the different groups based on something we had in common. The magnet then turned into the “Friendship Circle” where we passed around strings so we can tie our friendship bracelets using the beads given out in the beginning of the event. We ended with a beautiful prayer for world peace and harmony.

About 200 young adults attended. We all came from different parts of the world and yet found very similar themes in what we were experiencing in our lives. Through this event, we were all able to get together and connect through fellowship and prayer with the hope of strengthening our divine friendships, sharing techniques we can all do to be more solid on path, and more importantly, further awakening in each of us our deep love for God and the Gurus.
The 2010 Young Adults One World Lawn Activity will be faciltated by the Phoenix Young Adults Group, with the guidance of Bramachari Lynn this year. It will be held on Monday, August 2nd from 5:45pm-7:15pm at the 4th Floor Lawn Area of the Bonaventure Hotel.

The Young Adults Convocation Talk will also be led by our Phoenix Minister, Brother Ritananda.

The Phoenix Young Adults Retreat in 2009 was held on November 21st at the Phoenix Temple Grounds. Our special focus was on “Directing Our Destiny”. Most of us are at a point in our lives where we’re trying to figure out what’s next?, be it in school, our career, vocation, dharma, relationships and the spiritual path. This interactive retreat gave us an opportunity to get away from the world for a day to determine what’s really important for us and learn how to use spiritual techniques effectively to direct our destiny.

Our schedule included meditations, fun ice-breakers, introspective and creative activities, presentation on relationships and satsanga with the Phoenix Temple monks. We also enjoyed scrumptious meals prepared by our very own mentors and fellow young adults.
